Women’s League
2026 Women's League
The Portage Lake Golf Course Women’s League is set to kick off the season with a Fun Night on Tuesday, May 26th at 5:45 PM. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow participants, learn about the league, and enjoy a relaxed evening on the course.
This year, we are offering two divisions to better fit different playing styles and preferences:
Competitive Division (Play Your Own Ball)
Designed for golfers looking for a more structured and competitive experience. Players will compete using their own ball each week, with a season-long points system used to determine the overall winner. Points will be awarded based on:
- Weekly game results
- Low gross scores
- Low net scores
In addition, there will be an optional weekly skins game with a $2 buy-in, giving players another chance to compete and win each week.
Recreational Division (Scramble Format)
Perfect for those looking for a fun, social, and low-pressure environment. This division will follow a scramble format, allowing players to work together as a team on each hole. There is no season-long points system, making it ideal for golfers who simply want to enjoy the game and spend time with friends on the course.
League Fees:
- Members: $100
- Non-Members: $230
- MTU Students: $110
We will continue to offer flexible scheduling with morning tee times from 8:30-9:00 AM and evening tee times starting at 5:30 PM.
All skill levels are welcome and encouraged to participate. Whether you’re looking for competition or a casual round with friends, the Women’s League at Portage Lake Golf Course is a great way to be part of the PLGC community.

Format Descriptions
1-2-3: Record individual gross score on each hole. Team score is: 1 best net score on each par 5, 2 best on par 4s & 3 best on par 3s
Blind Partners: Players may physically play with anyone of their choice but the tournament partners are not drawn until the last group has teed off. Therefore a player does not know her tournament partners until she has finished playing. Winner is the team with the lowest net score after deducting both handicaps.
Cha-Cha-Cha: Each member of the 3 or 4 person team plays her ball throughout the round. A three-hole rotation exists for determining how many net scores are used to create the net team score.
On the first hole (Cha), the one lowest score is used as the team score. On the second hole (Cha-Cha), the two lowest net scores are combined to create the net team score, and on the third hole (Cha-Cha-Cha) combine the three lowest net scores to create the team score. On the fourth hole, the rotation begins again.
Chips Ahoy: Each member of a 3 or 4 person team is given a different colored poker chip (Red, Blue, White, Green). Before the tournament, a staff member will drive around the golf course randomly placing one colored poker chip in each hole. The team uses the net score of the player holding the same colored chip as the one in the hole.
Eclectic: A designated number of rounds are played within a specified time period. The player tries to improve her best previous net score on each hole. Her final score is the total of the her net scores.
Pink Ball: Each team has a bright pink ball (or any bright colored ball) that rotates among the players. Player 1 uses the ball on the first hole, player 2 on the second hole, etc. The rotation then repeats itself.
The colored ball score is kept as a ‘team-score’ for the entire round so the team with the lowest net pink ball score is the winner. Awards would then go to the team with the best net pink ball score.
